ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The American Red Cross has a new mobile app that could help save your life.

The tornado app has helpful tips you can use before, during, and after a tornado.

Flint River American Red Cross Executive Director Lara Gill said, "It's also a great way for you to get a warning in the middle of the night if a tornado is coming. It actually uses the GPS on the phone, and it allows location to be found, and if a tornado warning happens where you are it will sound."

The app also has historical data about tornadoes in your area. It also allows you to use your phone as a flashlight or emergency strobe light.

The Red Cross also has a first aid app and apps specifically for other types of disasters.
