Those across the board federal spending cuts known as sequestration are taking a toll on all sorts of government agencies, but will they affect your tax refund check?
Tax preparers say no.
Although the start of tax season was pushed back because Congress didn't pass changes to the tax code until the first of the year, the budget cuts haven't hit the IRS yet and shouldn't affect how quickly Uncle Sam gets your refund out.
"As long as they're claiming who they're suppose to be claiming and not trying to take credits that they shouldn't be eligible to get, they should have nothing to worry about," said tax preparer Tatina Tucker.
There could be a delay on refunds for those who are claiming student tax credits due to a software mix-up that affected about 600,000 H & R Block customers.
