ADEL, GA (WALB) -

Three Albany men are in jail tonight accused of robbing two south Georgia banks.

Investigators say they hit one bank in Adel,  then three weeks later robbed another in Donalsonville, but police caught them shortly after. WALB News Ten's Lydia Jennings has the story from Adel.

Three Albany men managed to go undetected after police say they robbed an Adel bank on February 7th. But three weeks later on February 28th police say they robbed another bank at gunpoint in Donalsonville. That time they got caught after running from police.

"From the information we've received from the GBI over in Donalsonville, one of the defendants did confess to the events that took place in Donalsonville also along with the events that took place in Adel," said Sgt. Jon Blake, Adel PD.

Investigators say there was one similar event in both robberies - the men stole a vehicle at the scene.

Adel Police say they found the patron's car ditched behind a Dairy Queen right off of I-75, and they attempted to do the same thing in Donalsonville.

GBI agents say they stole a car from the Peoples South Bank and led police on a high speed chase then fled on foot into woods. Facon and Key were caught that night after a manhunt. Collins made his way back to Albany but was found and arrested March 6th.

Adel investigators say they're glad it's all over. "An armed bank robbery in the city of Adel, this is a big incident for us. It is a relief that this case is almost over," said Blake.

Blake says the men told the bank tellers they needed the cash for a sick grandmother. They got away with less than $10,000 in Adel, which has not been recovered. In Donalsonville they stole $31,000, almost all of it has been recovered.

All three men have multiple charges against them including armed bank robbery. They're booked in the Seminole County jail.
