Thomasville Police are looking for two men who attempted to rob a store, scaring customers and clerks.
Jerome Gibson was driving his big rig into Albany from Sylvester when he lost consciousness, and his truck smashed into a utility pole, and knocked a fire hydrant out of the ground.
Gibson, who has 27 years behind the wheel, told WALB that he was eating Do-Si-Do Girl Scout cookies, when he choked. He said he reached for his coffee cup, and all of a sudden everything went black as he lost oxygen.
"I've never had anything like this happen," he said. "It's just by the grace of God that I'm here now!"
His rig careened on to the side of the road, smashing the hydrant, and then the power pole. He came to in time to get the truck stopped. By then something had punctured a fuel tank on his t5ruck, and diesel fuel leaked onto the ground.
First responders, Water Gas and Light, and the Albany Fire Department were quickly on the scene to secure the live power line, collect the leaking fuel, and shut off the water that gushed from the broken water main.
Gibson was heading west with his load when it happened.
