SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Convenient stores like Flash Foods on East Franklin Street or even places like CVS and Walgreens in Sylvester say they could soon see more business on Sundays.

It's all thanks to a decision made by city leaders back in January to put a Sunday Sales referendum on the ballot.

Registered voters will have all day Tuesday to make it to the polls and check yes or no to allow stores who normally sell beer and wine in the city limits the option of selling it on Sundays between noon and 11 o'clock at night.

If passed city leaders say they would start allowing stores to sell as early as July.

Those in favor say the option would bring more business to Sylvester - saying more sales tax would generates more money for the city.

But opponents disagree for religious reasons - saying there are already six days a week when alcohol is available to purchase.

This is the only thing on the ballot. Polls will be opening at 7 and remain open until 7 o'clock Tuesday night.

Voters are asked to go to the Henry Hall Woolard Center to cast your ballot. This is the only precinct that will be open today.
