ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

We now know when Dougherty County School Board members plan to vote on a school closure plan.

They heard from a consultant one last time and scheduled a vote for next week.

The consultant still says closing Dougherty Middle School and Sylvester Road Elementary and repurposing Magnolia Elementary will cause the least disruption to and save the most money.

Both schools on the closure list are in board member Darrel Ealum's district and he's not happy with the plan.

"Out of the 3 schools that we're closing, we're only closing one school on the west side and we're closing two schools on the eastside. So how can that be fair, asked Ealum.

"I know that some parents are not going to be happy and I apologize for that, but I also know that this board has to react to the budget crisis," said Interim Superintendent David Mosely.

The board is set to vote on the plan next Wednesday night.
