FAA delays decision to close air traffic towers

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The air traffic control tower at Albany's airport gets a brief reprieve. The Federal Aviation Administration delayed a ruling on an appeal by Southwest Georgia Regional Airport officials.

The F-A-A plans to close 189 towers at airports across the country as part of the sequester budget cuts.

The agency was overwhelmed by the number of appeals. Decisions on those appeals were supposed to be announced today, but they have been put off until Friday to give F-A-A officials more time to go over them.
