ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
As the Georgia General Assembly comes close to an end of this session, lawmakers are still debating proposed changes to the states gun laws.
Lawmakers are considering proposals from the National Rifle Association and GAcarry.org.
The NRA has pursued legislation that would allow people to hunt with silencers and another that makes clear people in public housing can own guns. On the other hand, Georgia Carry.org has proposed a plan that would allow people with a license to carry their firearms into bars and churches as well as college campuses.
It would also allow school districts to arm their employees.
"I think its a win-win situation for the people from the state of Georgia that the state legislature has recognized their rights to bear arms and is trying to relax some of those restrictions so law abiding citizens can carry firearms where they need to," said Georgia Loan and Gun Owner Steven Drew.
Lawmakers have until March 28th to decide where they stand.
