ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Sunday Alcohol is on a referendum ballot in Sylvester, and a new sheriff will be elected in Randolph County.

The referendum would not allow the sale of hard liquor on Sundays, only beer and wine. Early voting was extremely light. The polls will be open from 7AM to 7PM Tuesday.

Voters in Randolph County will cast ballots to decide who will replace longtime Gary Yochum, who died last in January.

The Interim Sheriff, Deputy Chief Eddie Fairbanks, will go up against Harold Piper who ran against Yochum in the July primary and lost.

Fairbanks wants to keep things as they are and run the department just as Yochum did. But Piper wants change and thinks he can improve the way law enforcement is run. Both men have about 25 years in law enforcement.
