Dancing Stars of South Georgia Announces Judges, Hosts, Dancers

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The reigning Miss Georgia, Leighton Jordan, has agreed to be a judge in the upcoming Dancing Stars of South Georgia, a star-studded event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, scheduled for May 4 at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center.

The South Georgia Region of the chapter announced Miss Jordan's participation at a Cast Party held Saturday, March 16, at the Bistro at 219 in Tifton. The lineup of judges, hosts and cast members were revealed at the event. Karla Heath-Sands of WALB-TV and Tyron Spearman of The Spearman Agency will be co-hosts.

Miss Jordan, of Suwannee, Ga., was recruited to the Houston Ballet when she was 15 years old, and won the Miss Georgia Pageant with dance as her talent and special needs children as her platform.

Her mother and grandmother own and manage dance studios in Athens. Other judges are dance professionals Carolyn Ellis of Tifton and Jeani Synyard of Valdosta.

The dancers (Stars paired with Pros) are: Ginger Sterling Nelson of Plant Tift Net, paired with Angel Aquilar of Angel's Touch Salon, both of Tifton; Daryl Salter of DOCO, paired with Kaycee Land of The Pink Slipper dance studio, both of Albany; attorney Chip Morris, paired with Amanda Johnson of The Hairitage Salon and Spa, both of Tifton; Vivien Gallagher Scott of Tifton, wife of U.S. Congressman Austin Scott, paired with Ronnie Stripling of Thomasville and Tallahassee; Jay Lacy of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, paired with Kevin Bailey, both of Tifton; Carrie Ann Turner of Tifton, paired with Alvaro Leyva of MotionDance Studio of Valdosta; Reginald Garrard, publisher of The Pelham Journal and The Camilla Enterprise, paired with Debbie Drury of A Time To… dance studio, Albany; Katie Carter of Cordele, a corporate health consultant for Phoebe Putney of Albany, paired with Ashley Helton of A Time To… dance studio, Albany; Alzheimer's Association Regional Board member Michael Hobbs of Hahira, paired with Hannah Moore of MotionDance Studio of Valdosta; and Keri Jones with Allen, Pritchett, Bassett, CPAs, paired with Van Jackson of Southern Pride Cheer, both of Tifton.
