Information from Chehaw Park

Two of Chehaw Park's most popular attractions are set to reopen tomorrow for the 2013 season.

The African Veldt experience is a new ride that transports zoo visitors into the wilds of Africa. The 47 acre habitat is home to zebra, ostrich, wildebeest, eland antelope, and impala. It made its debut over last year's Labor Day weekend to the delight of young and old alike.

Visitors are transported in a tractor-pulled covered trailer that affords close-up views of the animals in a natural setting. The ride costs $3.00 (in addition to regular zoo admission) and will run on weekends and holidays every hour on the half-hour.

The other Chehaw ride experience, which will also run on weekends and holidays, is the Wiregrass Express train ride.

This popular attraction has been chugging through the woods at Chehaw for more than 20 years, and it is still only $3.00 per person.
