ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Skydivers at the Fitzgerald Municipal Airport say the 10th annual St. Patrick's Day Boogie is the perfect way to spend the holiday.

"It's a great chance for everyone to get together and skydive," said Tara Parker, skydiver at the event.

From Thursday morning to sundown Sunday night, divers aged 18 to 83 came to celebrate with not just one, but multiple jumps from a plane, helicopter or hot air balloon.

"For the event we probably do about two thousand jumps," said Chris Spence, Event Organizer of St. Patrick's Day Boogie.

Organizers said it wasn't just a South Georgia event. Jumpers came from all over the United States and parts of Canada.

"Best feeling in the world. Can't describe it until you experience it and I always try to talk to people about skydiving and they're like, I'd never do that. I don't understand it. It's just like you got to do it once and experience it," said Ryan Young, skydiver.

Up to 23 divers could jump at once out of one of the planes.

Whether the thrill seekers were experienced flying solo or beginners flying tandem with an instructor attached to their back, they all say the event is like a family reunion.

After skydiving each day, the celebration continued with bonfires, a St. Patrick's day party and reconnecting with familiar faces.

Organizers of the event say they made sure to dress in green while skydiving Sunday and plan to do so for years to come.

Those interested in jumping are encouraged to come out next year.

The cost of a tandem jump is $189 and prices of other types of jumps vary.
