DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

The Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany announced the Battle Color Detachment performance has been canceled because of sequestration.

Base officials say the Department of Defense sent out an announcement Saturday morning canceling all ceremonial travel events.

The Albany base performance was scheduled for March 19th at 10 am.

It was a free event for the public at the base and representatives say crowds are always wowed by the performance.

"They've been here several times. So a lot of South West Georgians have seen them before but for those who have not, this is an unfortunate circumstance," said Colie Young, Albany Base Public Affairs Officer.

Officials say they were expecting around 5,000 people in the audience.

They are unsure if the performance will return to the Albany base.
