ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
There is confusion, Thursday, over whether a Dougherty County principal really has been suspended by the state.
The Professional Standards Commission did suspend Monroe High School Principle Dr. Valerie Thomas for 90-days effective March 22nd, saying she did not adequately supervise the administration of CRCTs in 2009 when she was principal at Lamar Reese Middle School.
Thursday, she showed us a letter from the PSC saying the suspension has been vacated pending her appeal.
"They've called me. They sent me an email. They called me on my cell phone. They made sure that I got every kind of correspondent that they wanted to send to me to let me know without a shadow of a doubt that the suspension was lifted, there's no more suspension and they're going to grant me a hearing," said Dr. Thomas.
The PSC's chief investigator told us Thursday evening the commission agreed to hear Thomas's appeal, but that her suspension remains in place.
No date for the appeal is set.
Thomas insists Lamar Reese School was cleared of any cheating during the state's CRCT investigation and the school board did not discipline her.
