The state supported Kindergarten transition program is now taking applications for this summer.
The transition program is meant for students who did not attend Pre-K or Head Start and need more time to build skills for the Kindergarten. The program starts June 1st.
About 300 slots are open on a first-come, first-served basis. School officials say this is a good way to prepare kids for the next school level.
"Children start first grade prepared for the first grade and more academically prepared than they would be without the program," said DCSS Public Information Director R. D. Harter.
Parents can call the Sylvandale Pre-K Center to make an appointment for the application process.
