ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman is hospitalized after a crash on a busy Albany highway.

It happened around 10am Wednesday on the Liberty Expressway near the Jefferson Street exit.

Albany Police say 69 year-old Judith Phillips was driving her Chevy Trailblazer west on the Liberty Expressway when she struck a guardrail, causing her SUV to spin out of control and go into the westbound lane.

Then Phillips was struck by 55 year-old Edward Hammock, who was driving a Ford F-350 Norfolk Southern truck.

Whirling debris struck a Plymouth Voyager van, driven by 38 year-old Marlo Newbill. Officials had to use the jaws of life to remove Phillips from her SUV. She was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are unknown at this time.

No one else was injured.  The crash remains under investigation.
