METCALFE, GA -

A historic preservation society is calling for volunteers of all ages to spruce up a historic home.

Thomasville Landmarks is asking for help to rehabilitate a 120-year old house on South John Street in Metcalfe.

The project is part of Operation C.A.R.E. which helps low income owners of historic homes with repairs.

This home is currently owned by Becky Raus.

"It really gives the community a facelift. It helps with heritage tourism which is a big economic driver in the state of Georgia. Overall improves the quality of life for the residents of Metcalfe and for Ms. Raus especially," said Landmarks Director Brent Runyon.

All materials and lunch will be provided. To sign up call Hands on Thomas County at 229-226-5200.
