THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A south Georgia church is planning their 6th annual mission trip to Rwanda.

In the past, teams from Thomasville First United Methodist Church built homes for orphans, dug a deep water well, installed new roofs, and provided scholarships for young people.

This year's 14-member mission team will revisit previous project sites while creating new ones.

"There is a group of widows that the Church of the Blessed Mango Tree reaches out to and so we are helping that church start a co-op so that those widows can get micro-loans to complete some vocational training and then they will be set up with whatever they need to be set up with whatever they need to start their business. Whether it is a sewing machine or anything like that," said Missions Director Chris Goff.

The group takes off for Rwanda in June.
