A trailer stolen from Tift County and another trailer stolen in Florida were recovered by Lowndes County deputies. The man they suspect of taking them is now under arrest.
Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine issued this statement Tuesday afternoon-
Deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office have arrested Robert Kier Jr. for a pair of warrants that were previously issued for his possession of stolen property.
Sheriff's Office investigators were recently contacted about Kier and his suspected involvement in the theft of a trailer that had been stolen in Tift County.
Investigators checked the property at Kier's family residence, 4460 Johnson Road South in south Lowndes County and located the trailer, a 24' K&K Manufacturing flat bed goose neck valued at $8,500.00.
While at the property, investigators also located a 32' Optima enclosed trailer valued at $9,000.00 that had been reported stolen in Nassau County, Florida. Both of these were recovered and returned to the owner.
Today, investigators located Robert Kier at a residence on Goodman Street in Quitman. With the help of the Brooks County Sheriff's Office and the Quitman Police Department, Kier was arrested for two counts of receiving stolen property, both of which are a felony. Additionally, Kier is currently awaiting sentencing in United States Federal Court for charges related to his arrest for similar offenses in 2010.
