The United States Postal Service says it is looking for ways to speed delivery of the mail after mail sorting was moved from Albany to Tallahassee last month.
Stephen A. Seewoester, a Corporate Communications person with the US Postal Service's North Florida and Arkansas District issued this statement to WALB Monday morning:
"Let me assure you the Postal Service constantly seeks ways to improve service to customers and meet or exceed the standards that have been set.
"Certainly, the service you report is not indicative of the level of service we wish to provide. "The Area Mail Processing (AMP) transition from Albany, Georgia to Tallahassee, Florida, just occurred on Feb. 23.
"We have reported this issue to the appropriate operations personnel and ask for your patience as we work diligently to ensure our customers do not experience any change in service from the Postal Service."
WALB's Krystyne Brown will have more on this story later today.
