ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Folks were out and about early on Saturday making sure the areas that welcome visitors to Albany, are in tip-top shape.

Volunteers with keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful and The Tree Board, as well as some folks from Turner Job Corp, put on their yard gloves to prune trees on Newton road near the airport.

"These are our gateways coming into the city, people coming in possibly for the first time flying in, we want them to see a pretty Albany and having the plantings makes it a pretty sight, but they do need maintenance," said volunteer Jackie Dixon.

The group holds maintenance events, such as the one held on Saturday periodically through out the year.
