ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Gas prices are going down for this time this year after setting a record for February last month.

The national average for the month was $3.65 a gallon.

The current average in Georgia is $3.67, down 7-cents in a week.

The national average right now is $3.72.

Drivers are hoping prices go even lower.

"My car does take a lot of gas and I live in Sylvester so coming back and forth I just think it's a little ridiculous that we do have to pay the prices we do for gas especially being in college in all," said driver Casey Thurmond.

AAA experts say the decrease in gas prices could be short-lived.

They could go back up as refineries close for maintenance this month.
