ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The 2nd annual Ride for Hope event was held at Tony's Gym Thursday.

Riders pedaled as fast as they could on indoor bikes to raise money for the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia.

Each participant was asked to raise $100 or more for cancer education, research, screenings and care grants.

The spinning group is led by international master spinning instructor and professional cyclist Josh Taylor who says the spinning program has raised millions of dollars globally.

"Especially when it comes to using the spinning program to help that fight, building awareness through fitness, through self betterness, What's a better way?," said Josh Taylor.

"Our goal to raise was $10,000 dollars and we expect that by the end of the night we'll be well over our $10,000 dollar mark," said Melissa

The event's theme is the world renown 'Fighter pilot; The Ride'.

While participants are spinning, the lights will be turned down while the music is turned up and video will play to make the riders feel like they are flying.

Organizers of Ride for Hope say riders of all fitness levels were invited to ride in honor or memory of someone affected by cancer.

The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia says all the money raised will stay here in our area and they plan to hold more Ride for Hope events in the future.
