TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

A collection of work by one of Georgia's most famous artists is on display now in Tifton.

Lamar Dodd was an official artist for NASA for many years.

He incorporated that experience into some of his most famous works.

His paintings have been displayed in the White House and the Georgia Governor's mansion now you can see them at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture.

"He took his own knowledge - his scientific knowledge of space and combined that with statements that he took from people that had been in space - astronauts," said Polly Huff who is the Gallery Co-coordinator for the Georgia Museum of Agriculture.

Dodd was from Fairburn and was the driving force behind making the University of Georgia's Art School one of the nation's finest.

Entrance to the exhibit is included with admission to the museum.

On April 5th the museum will open its next exhibit featuring quilts from around the world.
