VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
A lot of excited shoppers rushed to the grand opening of a new Publix Supermarket in Valdosta today.
The 45,000 square foot store is next to Wal-Mart on Inner Perimeter Road.
The first 1,000 customers get a free Publix canvas bag and a chance to win a $100 gift card.
The new store created 100 jobs.
Officials say the original Valdosta Publix built in 1992 has been so successful, the chain decided to expand.
"We're just so thankful to our loyal Publix fans, we call them Publix fans because they're like raging fans; which continue to create an opportunity for us to bring our business here and our services to the community," said Publix Spokesperson, Dwaine Stevens.
