ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A large pine tree came very close to slamming onto a Northwest Albany home. Fortunately, crews were able to prevent that from happening.

A section of Greenwood Drive between Valley Road and Dawson Road finally opened back just before 6 o'clock Wednesday morning after a 75-foot pine tree fell across the road.

City public works crews brought in front end loader to cut the tree down just before it fell on a nearby house. Crews say the tree uprooted from the ground as a result of recent flooding and Tuesday's high winds.

If you notice dead trees in your yard or trees that still have a lot of water around the trunks, officials are asking you to call a tree surgeon to come check it out.
