Athletic trainers are there to help

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

March is National Athletic Trainer month.

Trainers specialize in injury prevention, assessment, treatment,and rehabilitation. They're often the first to respond to an injury and can often spot the first signs of a concussion before things get worse.

"Try to make sure that people who are involved in sports or even industrial activities. We make sure they are conditioned for return back to their sport or back to their jobs," said Certified Athletic Trainer Donna Sledge.

Athletic trainers practice under the direction of physicians. More than 70% of certified athletic trainers hold at least a master's degree.
