Two major bills concerning gun control in public are making their way through the state capitol.
Monday evening, the State Senate passed a bill that would keep details of gun owners who have concealed weapons permits secret, and it would allow guns on public housing property.
Also Monday, a House committee passed a bill that would make it legal to carry guns into bars, churches and college campuses.
A state House committee passed a bill that would allow people to carry concealed weapons inside bars, churches, and college campuses unless private property owners forbid it.
But, the part that worries many Dougherty County school board officials - it would also allow school district officials to arm their employees - a Republican proposal that emerged after the deadly school shooting rampage in Newtown, Connecticut.
Meanwhile, the Senate passed a version of a separate bill that would allow guns on public housing property and would keep details of gun owners who have concealed weapon permits a secret.
