THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The owner of a south Georgia seafood store is recovering while one of his former employees sits in jail, accused of robbing him.

Police say former Harper's Seafood employee 23-year old Terrence Golden, Jr. shoved store owner 52-year old Billy Wright into a newspaper rack and stole two money bags.

Wright and a good samaritan made sure Golden didn't get away.

BWright says when his former employee Terrence Golden approached him as he was closing Friday night, he thought Golden was just goofing around.

Wright says even though Golden's face was partially covered, he immediately recognized who he was. And after he asked Golden what he was doing here, Wright says Golden pushed him into a newspaper rack.

"At that time the suspect snatched two money bags from the victim and fled the area behind the business," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Wright chose not speak on camera, but tells us Golden quit his job at Harper's Seafood about three months ago, but did leave on good terms.

"He was seen earlier across the street watching the business. We don't really know if he knows the schedule or not, but he does know some things about the business and the operation," said Hampton.

Police say Gregory Carter was at a car wash next door and witnessed the robbery.

They say Carter and Wright chased Golden and caught him in these woods just two blocks from the store on Campbell Street.

"It is always our stance that we don't want anyone to get hurt putting themselves in danger by chasing suspects or fighting suspects. That's our stand. We want for them to give us a call if they can get a good description of the suspect," said Hampton.

Police say Carter and Wright held Golden on the ground until officers arrived to take him to jail.

Golden remains in the Thomas County Jail charged with strong-arm robbery of a business.
