ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A relaxing Sunday morning was interrupted for an East Albany family, when they heard a loud crash.
"My niece and I were sitting in the house on the chair talking, and we heard a loud boom," said Linda Boston the owner of the home.
"I was in the room lying down, when I heard a boom noise and when I came outside the car was on the porch," said Sharkevia Waters a resident of the home.
The Boston's, who live in a home on Malone Drive, say the driver came across the front yard, side swiped the car in the driveway, went over the guard rail and stopped, only after slamming into the cement porch and causing a window in the house to break.
"How they got from the road to here, I don't know as you can see the road is not close to the house," said next door neighbor Bridgette Carter.
The residents say after the crash, the man behind the wheel appeared disoriented. They say he reversed the car and then took off in the opposite direction. The man took off so quickly the family wasn't able to get his plate information.
"Everybody was so shocked, nobody was worried about looking at license plates, everyone was so shocked," said Carter. Police later informed the residents that the same car caused a collision not even a block away from the home.
Aside from minor damages, the family is in good spirits and they are glad that no one was harmed.
"I'm just glad kids weren't out today, you know in this area playing because someone would have got hurt today", said Boston.
On Monday the family will begin picking up the pieces of the damage left behind, but in the meantime they're just trying to enjoy the rest of their Sunday.
