VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A busy road in Lowndes County is now open, after it was closed because of flooding.

The City of Valdosta reopened Gornto Road at the Earl Wetherington Foot Bridge near the YMCA Saturday.

The road was closed on February 28th, because of exceeding water levels of Sugar Creek. Water levels have since dropped significantly, and DOT inspectors evaluated the bridge Saturday morning and determined the bridge is safe for use.
