A $45,000 private donation is helping beautify downtown Donalsonville. 

The city is partnering with the newspaper in the town to plant trees and other greenery in the downtown area. A gala will be held to honor all those involved next week.

"If you notice, when you ride through our town, you see a lot of new trees and a lot of other improvements in the appearance of our town," said Donalsonville Mayor Joe Burke.

People in Donalsonville say they're excited about brightening up of the area and they hope this will inspire others to help beautify the town.
