61-year-old Jackie Spencer told officers he was emptying grease at the Thomasville Chicken Delite on W. Jackson St. at 9:00 last night when he turned around and saw a man inside the restaurant pointing a revolver at him, telling him to hand over all the money.
Spencer then said he walked toward the gunman and grabbed a knife, and then tried to grab the gun, missed. He says he fought the gunman who then turned around and ran out of the back of the business. Spencer said the suspect did not get any money.
Spencer said that he chased the robber down the block, but lost sight of him. She said a couple of seconds later a dark green sedan possibly a Ford Tempo, came speeding by him on Fleming St. and turned right onto West Jackson St.
The robber was wearing a dark blue hoodie or jacket, a ski mask or scarf over the face, and long pants which appeared to be jeans.
The incident report says surveillance video supports Spencer's account, but the suspect was wearing khaki pants instead of blue jeans.
