ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany family spent Tuesday cleaning out their flooded basement.

Doris Greene discovered more than an inch of water when she walked downstairs into her basement Tuesday morning.  Greene and her children removed some of the furniture Monday night, after they noticed water slowly seeping in near the baseboard.

She says they used a wet-vac, but had no idea it would get this bad.

"I was very devastated. When I got to the bottom of the stairs I realized that it was way more water than I had expected would come in during the course of the night. We did get sandbags, we thought that that would stop the water on the sides from coming in, but it didn't help at all," said Greene.

Greene says they experienced flooding at her house on Homewood Drive, eight years ago. Now she's focused on cleaning up the mess with a pump and some help from friends.
