The Valdosta City School System has a new leader after the former Superintendent decided to step down early.
Dr. Bill Cason was set to retire this summer, but after the school board last week selected Marty Roesch as the new superintendent, Cason decided to go ahead and let him take over.
He says he wanted to avoid leadership confusion, and give Roesch time to draft next year's budget and put together his own leadership team.
"I didn't want to be selfish and hang on to it very last minute, especially if it was going to harm the district and I felt that it would if I continued on," said Dr. Cason.
