ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A smash and grab burglar leaves a bloody trail of evidence in an East Albany drug store early Tuesday morning.

Take a look at this hole the burglar smashed in the side window next to the door at the Walgreen's on Sylvester Road a little after one a-m.

Investigators say the burglar smashed the plexiglass window, and then cut himself as he crawled through the jagged opening.

The alarm did not sound, but surveillance cameras recorded the break in.

The burglar is a short black man with a dark complexion.

He took several cartons of Newport Cigarettes and crawled back out the same hole.

Store employees had to take several cartons of cigarettes off the shelves because blood dripped on them.

Albany Police have not released the surveillance video yet.

If you have information about the burglary, you're asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
