ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

High water is forcing changes to this Saturday's Albany Marathon.

The finish line is always on the walking trail at Riverfront Park, but with the Flint River rising, that area could be underwater Saturday. Racers will now cross the finish line at Thronateeska Heritage Center.

Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager Rashelle Beasley said, "The route is just a little bit different, but we've already touched base with logistics the people who set the course for us and map it out for us and mark it. They're all raring to go. We avoided tornadoes last year, and we can avoid some flooding this year."

A lot of people run the Albany Marathon to get a qualifying time to be able to run in the Boston Marathon. Organizers say this alternate route is already certified, and the race will remain a Boston qualifier.
