ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
We're expecting high winds overnight. That means an increased danger of falling trees.
With the saturated ground, many roots could be loose in the soil, and the strong winds could knock down limbs or entire trees. EMA officials are warning people to stay away from trees and drive carefully in the dark.
With as much as has fallen already, the limbs are heavy with water. So it won't take a whole lot of wind to actually cause the limbs to break and fall onto power lines. So we ask people to beware around the house," Said Dougherty Co. EMA Deputy Director Jim Vaught.
Officials are urging people who don't have to drive, to stay off the roads until sun up Tuesday morning.
