LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Two men in Lowndes County are charged with breaking into multiple cars in an apartment complex over the weekend.

Demetrius Swopes and Jordan Smith are charged with multiple counts of entering an automobile to commit a theft.

They were caught Friday in the Northwind Apartment complex in Lowndes County.

Deputies found a knife, iPod, GPS unit, and other electronics on them.

Both admitted to breaking into a dozen cars in Lowndes County.

"All of the cars, with an exception of one were unlocked. They would take anything that appeared to be of value to them, mostly backpacks, purses, and wallets," said LCSO investigator, Chris Bruke.

Valdosta Police are also investigating to determine whether they can connect the suspects to car break ins in the city.
