LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -
Lee County Emergency Management Officials are advising residents in certain areas of the county to be prepared for the Kinchafoonee Creek to flood.
The Kinchafoonee Creek at Pinewood Road in the county is expected to reach flood stages Sunday night, around 13 feet. The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for this area.
The Kinchafoonee Creek is expected to crest at 17.3 feet at noon on Thursday. The water level will continue to rise throughout the day and officials want you to be prepared.
"The main think we ask for them is to be vigilant. People who have lived on the creek in the past are quite familiar with this situation. We just ask them to be vigilant," said Lee County EMA Director James Howell.
Chief Howell advises residents to continue to monitor the creek and keep an eye on any weather changes.
