Thomas Co. woman arrested after threatening IRS

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville woman is forbidden from an attending an upcoming property auction featuring some of her property.

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office got a call this week from the IRS saying 50-year old Virginia Deese called their office in Washington, D.C. threatening to shoot an IRS agent after she learned her St. Paul Road property would be seized and auctioned Tuesday.

The IRS secured a warrant for Deese's arrest.

When when they showed up at her home, she resisted arrest and officers pushed her to the ground to take her into custody.

"She was actually held here, picked up by the marshals, taken before a federal general magistrate in Albany. At that time the magistrate released her wearing a tracking device. She was put on orders not to go near the auction place here on Tuesday," said Lt Tim Watkins.

Deese is charged with obstruction.
