Tenth through twelfth graders at Lee County high school celebrated Black History month Friday.
Students packed into the gym Friday morning for a special program dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of many African Americans from this area who have gone on to accomplish great things.
The school holds this special celebration every year but students say this year they really wanted to educate everyone on African American history.
"We wanted to educate everyone and educate the students on just how important black history month really is," says Lee County senior Lapriela Seabrook.
"It educates some on African American history and it teaches even African Americans themselves who don't know the history something about the history and how people have carried on our legacies," says Lee County senior Jaborian Morman.
Pastor Courtney Moore was the guest speaker at Friday morning's celebration and encouraged students to add a little flavor to their future careers.
