THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -
Walking in high heels may not be on every guy's to-do list, but a strut around the track next Saturday could help a good cause.
Men are invited to participate in the annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser in Thomasville to help stop rape, sexual assault, and violence against women.
The proceeds benefit The Treehouse Children's Advocacy Center.
"It takes a lot out of them to kind of put themselves in a vulnerable position by putting on these shoes and raise money for women and children and people who are in a very vulnerable position themselves," said Sexual Assault Nurse Heather Stroh.
"It's a fun fundraiser. It's a lot of fun to watch, I hear. It's kind of tortuous on us, but we have a good time doing it and the importance of it is this is our major monetary support for the year," said Board Member Captain Steve Jones.
"If men can just shut down their virility for a little bit to put on the red high heels than that would be great because that is the biggest thing just the machoism involved. But it's for a great cause," said Board Member Lt. Scott Woodell.
The walk begins at 10 a.m. Saturday March 2nd at the Thomasville High School track. To sign up call 229-977-1639 or the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.
