TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

A Tifton County family is displaced after a fire destroyed their home.

Tifton Firefighters responded to 89 Melissa Lane around 8:30 Thursday morning.  When they arrived, the house was completely engulfed in flames.  

Family members made it out safely, but several puppies and turtles were killed. 

The home is a complete loss.  Red Cross is assisting the family and providing them with a place to stay for the next several nights.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
