The Flint RiverQuarium Turtle Race will be held Saturday, March 2, at 4:00 pm. The Flint RiverQuarium will be right in the center of the action inside the Mardi Gras gates.
While RiverQuarium visitors will have to pay $5 Mardi Gras admission to gain access, once at the RiverQuarium they will receive the lowest admission price ever offered by the FRQ— a special Mardi Gras Madness special of $4 all day for all ages.
This year's Turtle Race prizes include:
$5,000 in cash
a white gold and diamond necklace from Allen's Jewelers
$1,200 in gas from Homerun Foods
$1,000 in groceries from Publix
a Hobie Lanai kayak from Huggins Outboard
a Taste of Albany package which includes $150 in gift cards from area restaurants
a SCUBA certification class from Adventure Dive Center
a $100 gift certificate from Cycle World
Turtles may be adopted online at www.flintriverquarium.com, by mail, by phone at 229-639-2650 or on-site at the Mardi Gras gates or at the Flint RiverQuarium until 3 pm the day of the race.
The cost of a single turtle is $5. Multi-turtle packages also are available.
The Flint RiverQuarium is southwest Georgia's premier aquarium, featuring more than 1,000 animals that call the Flint River watershed home. The Flint RiverQuarium is located at 101 Pine Avenue in downtown Albany, Georgia.
Regular operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
