We enjoyed a proud moment here in South Georgia when our own Pamela Green-Jackson received a Citizens Medal from President Obama.
Ms. Green-Jackson, who works at MCLB Albany, was honored for her Youth Becoming Healthy program, which she started as a tribute to her brother who died because of diabetes.
The Citizens Medal is the second highest civilian honor for service to our nation. We congratulate her for her program and for the recognition she received from the president.
Another Albanian was on Capitol Hill last week, too. United Way CEO LaKisha Bryant testified before the House, Ways, and Means committee about the proposed changes to the federal tax break for donations.
We congratulate both women on their outstanding leadership locally but more importantly, we thank them for putting a positive spotlight on Albany and Southwest Georgia.
