PLAINS, GA (WALB) -

A landmark from President Carter's successful run to the White House reopened, just in time for Presidents Day.

The Plains Depot was closed last week as National Park Service workers installed new exhibits that focus on how the people of Plains helped get Jimmy Carter elected, and how you can make a difference in your community.

Park Ranger Kevin Alexander said, "The renovations will help the visiting public engage in the exhibits. There will be less maintenance, which is costly, as well as they will last for a significant number of years before they have to be renovated again."

President Carter will attend an official unveiling on March 13th.

The depot is the oldest structure in Plains and was used as a campaign center when Mr. Carter ran for President.
