ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Despite all our recent rain, construction on the new terminal at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport is still on track to be completed in June.

The Aviation Commission approved spending $291,000 dollars on furnishings for the terminal.

About half the 80 seats in the waiting area will have electrical outlets.

The seats are also designed to keep bacteria from growing on them.

Airport officials say visitors will notice differences immediately in the new terminal.

"When people see the new terminal, they will understand it's very contemporary. It's very modern, it's about movement, it's about steel, it's about hard surfaces kind of like aviation is. We want the furnishings to accommodate that," said Airport Director Yvette Aehle.

There will also be restrooms and an area for laptops users to set-up past the security gates.

The new furnishings will be paid for by fees collected when passengers fly out of the airport.
