ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Dougherty County commissioners renew their contract with a probation service.
Monday, the commission approved two contracts with Judicial Alternatives of Georgia.
One is for superior court with Judge Willie Lockette, the other is for state court with Judge Victoria Darrisaw.
Commissioners say this is a way to save money and keep residents safe.
"It's worked incredibly well. It's cost effective, and it has proved to be a very successful program. Both the courts are very excited about what they've done in the past, consequently we're moving forward in order to make sure that service continues," said Jeff Sinyard, the county commission chairman.
The county administrator says this service accounts for the thousands of people on probation in Dougherty County.
