Motorcycle club donates for Albany World War II memorial

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Almost half the money needed to build a World War Two Memorial in Albany has been raised, thanks largely to a South Georgia motorcycle club.

The Remaining Few Motorcycle Club donated more than $4200 to American Legion Post 30 for construction of a World War Two Memorial at Veterans Park.

They raffled off a motorcycle to raise the money because they believe the memorial is needed.

"We have multiple members who are veterans," said Remaining Few Support Club member Jason Akins.  "A lot of our parents. My grandfather was a B-29 pilot during W. W. II. So it's another one of those things that's close to us."

They hoped to have the memorial built in time for Veteran's Day but still have not raised enough money to start construction.

If you would like to donate, call Post 30 at 435-5450.
